Ingredients:

  • 6 Original Babybel Cheese wheels (unwrapped)
  • 30g All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1 Large egg
  • 15ml Whole milk
  • 60g Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Unwrap the Babybel cheese wheels and remove the red wax. Place wheels on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze for 45 minutes to 1 hour to ensure the center remains solid during the air frying process.
  2. Prepare the dredging station in three shallow bowls. Bowl 1: whisk flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne. Bowl 2: whisk the egg and milk. Bowl 3: combine panko, smoked paprika, and sea salt.
  3. Roll the chilled cheese wheels in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  4. Dip the floured cheese into the egg wash, then press firmly into the panko crumbs.
  5. Perform a double-dredge by dipping the breaded cheese back into the egg wash and then back into the panko crumbs to create a reinforced seal.
  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket and the cheese bites with oil. Air fry at 200°C for 5 minutes until the exterior is golden brown and crispy.
