Ingredients:
- 6 Original Babybel Cheese wheels (unwrapped)
- 30g All-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion powder
- 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
- 1 Large egg
- 15ml Whole milk
- 60g Panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp Fine sea salt
Instructions:
- Unwrap the Babybel cheese wheels and remove the red wax. Place wheels on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze for 45 minutes to 1 hour to ensure the center remains solid during the air frying process.
- Prepare the dredging station in three shallow bowls. Bowl 1: whisk flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne. Bowl 2: whisk the egg and milk. Bowl 3: combine panko, smoked paprika, and sea salt.
- Roll the chilled cheese wheels in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Dip the floured cheese into the egg wash, then press firmly into the panko crumbs.
- Perform a double-dredge by dipping the breaded cheese back into the egg wash and then back into the panko crumbs to create a reinforced seal.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket and the cheese bites with oil. Air fry at 200°C for 5 minutes until the exterior is golden brown and crispy.
