Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (150g) fresh blackberries
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 pinch (1g) sea salt
  • 2 slices (80g) thick-cut sourdough bread
  • 3 oz (85g) Brie cheese
  • 1 tbsp (14g) unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Combine blackberries, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Lightly mash the berries with a spoon and simmer for 8–10 minutes until the mixture thickens into a jam-like consistency. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Spread a generous layer of the cooled blackberry reduction on one side of each sourdough bread slice.
  3. Layer the Brie cheese evenly on one of the bread slices. (Optional: add cooked bacon strips on top of the cheese). Close the sandwich.
  4. Spread softened butter evenly on the outside of the bread.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Grill the sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side until the crust is mahogany-colored and the cheese has melted.
