Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz frozen cheese ravioli
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 cup fresh basil, chiffonade

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce and dried oregano. Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Spread 1 cup of the prepared meat sauce across the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  6. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. Top with half of the remaining sauce and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella.
  7. Repeat the layering process with the remaining ravioli, the rest of the sauce, and the remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes to steam the pasta.
  9. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
