Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (300g) fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup (70g) finely diced Granny Smith apple
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) red onion, finely minced
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp (0.5g) ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp (1g) ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine the blackberries, diced apple, and minced red onion in a medium stainless steel saucepan. Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until the onions soften and the berries begin to release their juices.
  2. Pour in the apple cider vinegar and granulated sugar, then stir in the cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and salt. Increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  3. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent scorching, until the chutney reaches a syrupy, glossy consistency that coats the back of a spoon.
